Meet the coaches!

Chris McDonald: President (left)
Graduated 1979 and entered directly into the work force and achieved success in the corporate world and for the last 29 years as an Account Executive for the Las Vegas Review Journal. Began coaching softball in 1984 for the recreational leagues in Las Vegas which became the foundation for the current travel ball teams. Clinician along side some of the elite players and coaches from the United States Olympic team and a clinician for the Dot Richardson Softball Association which was a developmental program for the recreational leagues in Las Vegas as well as California. Currently President/Clinician/Facilitator for Synergy Team Concepts, President of Las Vegas Rage Travel Organization, Co-Head Softball Coach for the only Gold team in Nevada the past 17 years, Director for NFCA Camp in Las Vegas and private softball instructor.

Shan McDonald: Vice President (right)
Graduated from Texas A & M with Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and minor in Biology in 1983. Has a Masters degree in Technology in Education. Was Head Softball Coach at the University of Nevada Las Vegas for 17 years and was involved with the 1996 Canadian Olympic team and multiple Canadian National Teams.  Upon leaving UNLV, she went on to be Head Softball Coach for the 2004 Chinese Olympic Team which finished fourth. Currently a Physical Education teacher at Sig Rogich Middle School, Clinician/Facilitator for Synergy Team Concepts, Co-Head Softball Coach for the only Gold team in Nevada and private softball instructor. Continues to have extensive involvement with the development of softball as a coach and clinician for the International Softball Federation.  Most recently Coach for Canadian Youth team at the World Youth Championships 2009 in the Czech Republic.

Kevin Sweeney: Head Coach – Las Vegas Rage Gold Team Mizuno
Grew up playing baseball and football in Southern California in a family well established in both the youth baseball and softball communities. Graduated from Fountain Valley High School in 1987 and upon enrollment and completion of apprenticeship school, begun work in the construction trades. Began coaching softball in 2002 in the recreational leagues in Orange County and continued to do so upon relocating to Las Vegas in 2006 to manage a subcontract construction business. Began coaching travel softball in Las Vegas in 2009 and came to the Rage organization in 2010. Coached at all levels from 12U-18U within the Rage organization with the last four years being at the 18 Gold level. Alongside Chris McDonald and Shan McDonald, coached multiple championship teams including the first PGF premier qualifier in the state of Nevada. NFCA member, community volunteer, and private softball instructor. Daughter Kelsea is a Rage Gold alumni and Wife Danielle is a volunteer within the Rage organization.

Brad Query –  Asst. Coach / Recruiting Liaison – Las Vegas Rage Gold Team Mizuno
Grew up playing baseball, football, basketball, softball, and tennis in the Las Vegas area.  Graduated from Sunset High School in 1982.  United States Army veteran and Graduated from UNLV in 1989 with a degree in physical education. Has a master’s degree in ESL and has been teaching and coaching in the Las Vegas area since 1990. Has been a Head Varsity coach in Men’s and Women’s Tennis and Men’s Basketball as well as a head coach of various AAU Men’s Basketball teams. Has been coaching recreational and Travel softball since 1995 and involved in the Rage organization since 2006. Married 32 years to Ginny Query with 2 daughters – Bianca and Basia, that are both Rage Gold alumni.  Basia currently plays softball for Utah Valley University in Orem Utah.

Jeff Huddleston: Asst. Coach – Las Vegas Rage Gold Team Mizuno
Coach Jeff was born and raised in Las Vegas and attended Bonanza High School, where he met his wife of 30+ years Gail. Jeff began coaching his son Tyler in the Little League ranks and after a couple seasons of being the all-star coach he decided to create his own team and move on to travel baseball. While coaching baseball, his daughter Ashley began playing Little League Softball. Jeff then developed a love of the game for Fastpitch Softball and wanted to help coach Ashley when she made the move to a travel team after 10u all-stars. In 2003 a Las Vegas Rage 12u team was created and Coach Jeff was now part of organization that is instrumental in helping lady athletes prepare for college. In 2005 Coach Jeff began his career as a non-parent coach and wife Gail by his side as team manager. Together they started forming teams to be part of the Rage organization. They made a couple circles of 12u to 14u and again back to 12u all the while feeding players to the upper age teams within the organization. After a few seasons at 16u, in 2015 Coach Jeff formed a 10u team, then went to 12u until an opportunity presented itself and then joined the Gold team Spring of 2017.
